Hey all,

I'll admit I've never been one to post on any site, but the combination of ocean kayaking (long time passion) with fishing makes posting suddenly a different proposition because I have lots to learn... and post.

Last year I picked up on the easier stuff of reeling in lings and rainbows of rockfish on the Sonoma Coast.  What does it take to haul in halibut?  I don't hear about it much, but know that halibut are found in Southern California and they seem to get larger and larger as you get closer to Alaska.  They must be out there for a smarter angler than I.  Appreciate any guidance/tips on halibut.

I'll post again as soon as I soak my first crab hoop nets and see how that goes for my first time.

Cheers

Those are different species of halibut that occupy very different habitat. California halibut vs Pacific halibut.  We catch both on the north coast.

Actually, the super jumbo's live at the outer channel islands. Santa Rosa ,San Miguel.  In our area we get a few in the 40+ range.
We have the government, that our forefathers warned us about.
