Got to the lake at 5:30.  I was in the water and on the hunt for a boil.  I saw several boils, all out of reach.  I saw a guy catch at least 2 while trolling with down riggers.  All the PB's were chasing boils left and right.

The best part of the day was when I was paddling into the South ramp, I saw a guy launching his BEAUTIFUL WAKE BOARD BOAT into the water.  He then carefully pulled out of the water, giving complete control to his lovely wife.  She did what all wakeboarders do 1st and foremost.  She turned on her stereo loud enough for all to hear.  "LED ZEPPLIN, KASHMIR".  She then started to cruise out to trough the Channel?   WHAT CHANNEL.  She made an immediate left turn and STUFFED it in the ground in about 6 inches of water going 5+MPH.  She yelled out FU?*, as I paddled past her.  She said "Can some one help me", another boater said, yeah, stay between the red and green buoys.  She stayed there a bit until her husband called her on the cell phone.  He drove to the north side since the north ramp is closed and was waiting for his $60,000 boat to arrive.  Some folks helped her. then she could not start the boat.  One of the rescueres had to tell her to put it in neutral.....  I think she was Miss South Carolina from the beauty pageant....

Andy, I saw your truck in the lot, and you off in the distance. I put in about 9 and went to chasin'. I was in a pb. Hooked several on topwater, all got off, but I wasn't trying too hard, mostly trying to get the 10 yr old into a fish. He got to see fish right up close, and even though he didn't hook up he was excited as heck to see the slashing going on.
I took out around noon, and let me tell you, it was a zoo! I think the rest of the weekend is shot, unless you fish at night.
Later...
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Andy

great story.  You should have told her to wait for the tide to come back in.

I love boat ramps! NOT! :smt013 :smt044 I watched a mother launch her poor kid into the dash of their boat boat at Lake Sonoma. She decided to take the short cut over the rocks next to the boat ramp. The tide must have been out that day too. :smt002
