Hi everyone! Life long fisherman here who just got into kayak fishing in the bay/ocean. Grew up fly fishing from float tubes, but this is a whole new experience for sure! I'm in the East Bay and spend a lot of time at the Rockwall in my Papaya Outback. I'll be out there this weekend hoping to get my first (of many) halibut! Got skunked my last 2 times out, but I'm hoping my luck will change soon  :smt005 It would be great to meet up with some other locals!

Welcome

I used to fly fish from a float tube too.  Loved hiking into a remote lake and enjoying a peaceful lake.
I am sure you will get a halibut soon.  It took me some time to get my first one but once you learn to gaff, it becomes easy.

I've actually caught a bunch of shakers off the rockwall with my fly rod. Just never got that keeper. I've been thinking about trying to troll a clouser behind my yak and see what happens. I think it would be a lot of fun to get a big butt on a fly from my kayak. I haven't seen anyone out on the bay fly fishing, but I think it's possible

Must have missed you. I was there in the afternoon fishing the slack high tide until the wind and waves kicked up. Saw a couple keepers pulled out, but I only got one bite myself. Hope you did better than me!

No hali but did landed a decent size leopard.
Heard two caught drifting and one on the troll.
Better luck next time   :smt006

Got my first 2 keepers off my kayak last weekend at ARW. Needless to say I was really excited to get these butts on the boat! First one was 23, the second was 22. I let the 22 go cuz I didn’t want to risk keeping an undersized fish. Although, if I would have got that one first, I probably would have kept it. Can wait to go out again  :smt001

Hi Token! Those halis look amazing!! I used to fish the flounder run and season on the east coast both with flies and bait, but these big flatties on this coast are a completely different game!
