This nonprofit org San Francisco Bay Keeper filed a law suit against the polluters this week:

My family loves to eat fish from the bay but don't want to be eating heavy metals. I plan on donating $500 to SF Bay Keeper (my company matches my donation). Hopefully this lawsuit they are filing does something to stop these polluters.

:thumright: Supporting charities is always a good thing. Unfortunately, the charities themselves aren't always a good thing. Charity Watch does not list San Francisco Bay Keeper, Charity Navigator does. Check it out and see if it meets your expectations:

Quick note: their cost for management (salaries) is a little top heavy for my preference, but the top manager (CEO) isn't paid that much, so the organization, overall, is running a small budget compared to other
enviro organizations. And they have accomplished a crap load of really good stuff other enviro orgs have not. They seem efficient. I think this organization does not lose lawsuits. :smt002

Those charity sites are good to know about. Don’t want your money going to nothing. They  seem to be doing good work.

Thanks for heads up on those folks working to protect the bay. I talked to the boss, got the approval, we are going to follow your lead and also toss a bone to the folks at San Francisco Bay Keeper. Since we eat the fish form the bay it just seems like a good idea to help protect it. :thumleft: The boss is going to see if her company matches donations. That was a good idea, too. Thanks.

The bay is a lot cleaner than it used to be

I worked in it for about 12 years and the only fish I’d eat out of it would the migratory ones mainly salmon

On the other hand stripers are full of bad stuff even when you get them out of the ocean and I’d eat that any day of the week

The bay is still a cess pool even after it was cleaned up

Too bad it couldn’t be restored to what it was when the honkies first arrived

Ship logs from that time are an amazing read
