Latest Fishing Report from Del Valle Marina on 3/21/2022
Phone:  (510) 544-3146

Weather: Weather at the lake has been warming up- ranging from the mid 40s to about 60 degrees. The water surface temperature in the marina area is 60 degrees.

Clarity of Water:  The water has been clearing up aroudn the marina and clarity will increase as you get closer to the dam. The water level is higher than normal for this time of year.

Hot spots: The hot spots have been the Narrows and South Beach.

What Bait to Use:

Stripers- Anchovies

Catfish- Chicken Liver, Anchovies, Sardines and Night Crawlers. Catfish tend to not be interested in any lures.

Trout- Power bait, night crawlers have been working well. Trout also love lures such as Panther Martins, Kastmasters, Rooster Tails and all types of small spinners, Atomic Tubes.

Largemouth/ Smallmouth- Plastic Worms have been a good choice, another good choice is Jigs or Drop Shots, various spinners.

Crappie/Panfish-  Night Crawlers, Redworms, and little Micro Jigs have been working good as well.

Fish plant on 1/31 from CDFW 1,400 lbs.
Fish plant on 2/3 from Mt. Lassen 300 Trophy

So I also am bringing to share:
2x large bags of charcoal and a charcoal chimney pair of tongs
2x 5 Gallon Water Jugs for cleanup/washing/etc
2x firewood bundles
20+ Glow Sticks
20 Lighted Bells for shore fishing
Couple Luci Lights and other lighting

Don't forget the kitchen sink  :smt003

I got you.

Now that all this shit is in one pile in front of me I can't believe I'm taking it all kayak camping and it's actually going to fit.  :smt003

I've been dealing with some shoulder issues but I'll still be there Friday around 2-3ish, but just trying to plan the trek without a yak though.  Anyone know what the path walking to the campground is like?  Thinking of bringing a flat cart to load my stuff and just walk in if terrain is doable. I called the park but the chick that answered the phone was new and couldn't give me an answer.

I'll be bringing kimchi fried rice, some premarinated bbq ribs, and some snacks and dabs.  :smt005

Haha. For some reason I thought your post was for Chadow.

I should be good. I've spent the last two weeks in the garage visualizing and doing multiple dry runs.  :smt003
The only thing I will need help with or will need to come back for is firewood.....and maybe Won.

I'm bringing my tandem. If I'm around when you get there I'll give you and your gear a ride to the camp. Between Al and I I'm sure we'll figure something out. I can't guarantee I can give you a ride back on Sunday, though.
Make sure to bring your radio and give us a call when you get in.

And pack light. I'm sure we already have cups/plates/utensils, etc. covered.

The path is a flat dirt road I believe, it's very easy to walk if you want to and pull a cart or whatevs. Even has a street view the whole way to the bathrooms if you want to look at it on google. And yeah, happy to help anyone if they need it.  Bring your VHF and call for the NCKA crew :smt006

Thanks, E!

We'll do something a little closer to your neck of the woods soon! Something non-Shelter Cove.

Maybe hire a local guide to take us kayak fishing/camping on a river somewhere.
