I put in at noon to break in a new outboard. As a last minute thing I throw in 2 rods, a topwater and Kastmaster rig. Never let your guard down when it comes to these stripers! Doing low rpms by the spillway and... what's that over there? They busted for about three hours. Great way to break in a motor!
I ended up with 5 and lost as many. Topwater ruled today. Twice I got hit when my spectra tangled and my lure was just sitting motionless! I got to do that more often, on purpose. I got pics and video that I'll try to post tomorrow.
In the middle of the best bust they were hitting the bottom of my Whaler. I kid you not!
Fish-onnnn!

It WAS hot today, but dip your shirt in the water then put it on and you're good to go. Chasing busting fish takes your mind off things too.
Come to think of it, the busts were somewhat sluggish too, the fish seemed to take their time. They weren't throwing water 3 feet in the air like they can.

Terry-
they were busting at the south end of the lake, east of the dam, right against the shoreline in maybe 25 to 35 feet of water?

I'm mainly a bait dragger, so I honestly can't help you for what to throw at 'em topwater style.

I'm interested too, though!
