A while back I was asking for gun safe recommendations

About an hour ago the street got noisy with a bunch of amped up cops running around with shotguns

A few minutes before a vehicle pulled up in front of the neighbor’s house two doors down and a bunch of people in ski masks broke in and lifted a big safe out the front door My son heard a lot of yelling and then tires screeching then the sirens a little after, then cops all over the street with their guns out

The desperados are getting pretty bold

Wow, by the sounds of it, seems like nobody was hurt which is good.

Sadly, if they only walked out with the safe, the victims most likely knew these guys.  When people get robbed for very specific things, it's usually someone you know!  Just horrible.
If you ain't first, you're last.

Unlikely it was actually a safe that was being picked up and stolen. Maybe, but probably not, more likely a locked steel cabinet, but not a “safe”. Safes are ridiculously heavy, would require more people to lift/move than will fit through any doorway. However, an appliance hand-truck will move a safe with just a couple people, and would be a lot faster to move, though I have no idea what they would do with a safe once outside the house.

Here is the thing about safes – no one gets their safe broken into or stolen by thieves that found it by chance. Safes are designed to keep those people out, and they work well for that. Safes that get broken into are known, the thieves know where it is, and target it, specifically. People trying to steal a whole safe are people that watch too many movies, high school kids, drug addicts, other idiots that can’t/don’t think ...

It was a full size safe 5’ x 3’ They came knowing what they were there to take and with a whole crew of strong bros to do it There’s video but they were all in ski masks

They could’ve taken their time but the old man across the street came out while they were loading and made the call

It’s 3 or 4 doors from the last burglary on our street, they went in through a second floor window When our neighbors are on vacation they seem to know it

The cops said it’s a string of them happening in the area all the same MO

Maybe it was a safe, but here this is why I doubt it was an actual 3 ft x 5 ft safe:

Exterior Dimension- 36"W 27"D 60 "H

With Fire:
1100 lb. Most Popular
1265 lb. Heavy Metal
1506 lb. Magnum Steel, Sturdy Signature & Stainless Elite

Without Fire:
920 lb. Most Popular
1085 lb. Heavy Metal
1316 lb. Magnum Steel, Sturdy Signature & Stainless Elite

Without fire proofing, that thing weights just under 1/2-ton. Being very optimistic, if a person can pick up and move 100-lbs, it will 10 people to move that box, empty. Everyone working together has to carry their 100lb part while going through a doorway with the safe. It is going to take 13 to 15 people working together to move that box with stuff in it. A safe that weighs 1/2 as much as that will take 6 to 8 people to move, and they still need to get it, and the people moving it, though a doorway, together. That is why I doubt it was a safe, probably a steel cabinet.

To steal the safe means getting all of those people organized and working together. The more people you have, the easier it is to pull off, but also the greater the chance someone involved will talk to the cops and rat you out. Anyone that can organize the theft of a safe has options. Stealing a safe just isn't smart for so many reasons.

You have a PM.

True. Now if Steven Segal was there, he would front kick that thing down the stairs no problem.

And Luke would use the force.

My point being that it is impossible to use 10 men to move a safe.  The safe isn't big enough for 10 men to get hands on it.  Deadlifiting 225 lbs then walking around the room with it is int he skill set of most guys who spend any time in the gym.

Copy that, personally I'm considering some strength training cuz it's time, being non-sedentary isn't cutting it at this point, I fear pulling something just crabbing or crash landing da yak...

He showed up at my SJ Aikido class when I was taking it about 30 years ago and I can say for sure he was pretty bad ass back then.

But I've seen his recent videos on YouTube and hum, well he doesn't seem very bad ass anymore  :smt005

Pretty sad for sure, now Jean Claude is another story...the only timeless icons seem to be Clint Eastwood and Bruce Lee...speaking of..."Knowing this is a 44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and could blow this safe clean open and straight out the door, you might want to ask yourself one question."  or, "Know yo opponent, be the safe"... :smt006
