First of all, I am not here to start a vax/anti-vax debate.  I simply want to relay a warning.
PAY ATTENTION TO WEIRD PAINS after you have recovered from Covid.  I came down with Covid mid October.  It hit me and the wife pretty hard, my son was back to normal in 3 days.  While I was sick, I started developing stomach issues (I have never had stomach issues before). The discomfort led to pain and then debilitating pain.  I ended up having severe clotting in the vessels that provide blood flow to the liver and small intestine.   According to the Dr, blood clotting is becoming a major secondary issue in the weeks following recovery from covid. again, I am not interested in a debate.  This is just a warning.  Pay attention to issues/symptoms that surface after you have recovered from Covid.  I was lucky.  Others have not been.

Thanks for the warning. I’m currently at home with covid. Double-vaxxed but still got got. Though I currently feel fine, I was noticing a strange stabbing pain/pressure behind my left eyebrow when I would cough. I know the symptoms for covid wide ranging and numerous, but that one was really scaring me. I know it can mess with your blood vessels.

Stay safe everyone. I know it’s hard to stay vigilant after two years but this stuff is crazy when it does happen to you.

Again, not here for a vax debate. Aaccording to the doctors vax/unvax’d doesn’t matter as it relates to the Secondary issues that some experience.  I just want everyone to know that they should pay attention to symptoms after they think they are recovered.  I was pretty much fully recovered and ready to head back to work when I was hit the second time.

TLW and I both had it, twice, also not interested in the “vac Popo”…. 2-3 days fir me to feel better and get part of my taste back, 5 days fully recovered, TLW don’t do good with fevers was 4-5 days then 7 for her taste back….no other side major effects no after affects, just felt like a bad flu with no taste or smell, even tried the smelling salt pack out of the first aid kit… no smell at all, made breaking wind so much easier in da house!

What's the problem in telling the full story, ie vaccinated or not? It's all part of the story you just told. If you are vaccinated and still got these effects, that tells majority of the population (assuming majority vaccinated based off CA stats) not to get complacent. If you aren't vaccinated, that tells the unvaccinated to remain cautious and aware that this is indeed serious. Either way, it's a good reminder to listen to your body. I think a lot of us are just curious on that detail and it matters.

That is a bummer on the secondary effects. Best of luck in your recovery.

edit to add: This is an interesting article on kidney damage from COVID.

Pretty interesting stuff.
"Daniel Chertow, principal investigator in the NIH’s emerging pathogens section, said along with his colleagues that RNA from the virus was found in patients up to 230 days after symptom onset."

A person’s vax status is personal and confidential medical information, and needs to be treated as such. Personally, I am most comfortable when folks treat medical information with the confidentiality it deserves. I do not ask people their vax status, and I do not answer when someone asks me mine - that is between me and my doctor.

What the Grim Reefer experienced/is experiencing and his message is an excellent reminder no one can turn their back on this critter. There is no telling, no way of knowing who is going to experience a more aggressive viral infection and what direction that infection will take. It can all go sideways on anyone at anytime. There are some things each of us can do to minimize the risk, but nothing any of us can do that will completely eliminate it.

That would make sense if asking someone's vaccination status was out of the blue. However, when someone just tells the internet that their liver is dying related to a specific disease, the OP skipped past the point of not wanting to disclose confidential medical information on that topic.

Information is a good thing. Unfortunately in the absense of information people make assumptions. That's what I was trying to avoid for both sides. I'll leave it at that.

Best of luck in your recovery, Grim. Hope to see you on the water.

This can definitely apply to the risks of kayak fishing along with life in general

Just like if someone gets bit by a shark on a kayak. Did they have a shark shield or not? Having a shark shield is a personal and confidential information.

I 100% guarantee those assumptions have been made, and they are not all the same from reader to reader.

Heal quickly Grim.

Sorry to hear of this. The after effects of COVID are definitely real. Unfortunately, Kaiser, and other mainstream medical organizations won't treat or will do very little to help anyone with these issues.

January 25 2022 will be exactly 1 year since I got sick with COVID-19. I was hospitalized for 3 weeks and and 4 months of bed rest at home connected to an oxygen machine recovering. I finally got better to work in June 2021. But till this day I have complication with my cardiovascular system, joints, speech, taste, smell, brain fog, balance and now diabetic. Doctors say I’m a long hauler. I’m afraid that I’m no longer the fisherman I used to be!😔 No more Long Perch Walks or kayak adventures for me😢
I probably don’t have to say this but Please take all precautions not to get COVID! Take care all!
