On a bait stop, Fuzz dropped in with some live bait, when suddenly it got picked up....

So he waited a few seconds to let it run, locked the gears......

And BENDO.......

Line was pealing out fast....

The fight was on....

Slowly, he battled his fish towards the boat...

Only to end up with a RAKED BAIT!!!!!

Better luck next time chump!!!!   :smt005

Check out the most recent copy of Sport Fishing  ( oct 2007)(page 20). A 400 lb mako 22 miles ouside of Noyo Harbor (Fort Bragg) attacked a group of dolphins (mammals) hitting them in mid air several times and shearing the tail off one.

That does look pretty tasty and less blood on the deck

That's going to make for some seriously adventurous kayak fishing

I think it was a Mooch fish, I hear they go nuts for Ahi Sashimi!

Bite radius looks fairly small (for a shark, anyway). I'd guess it was a blue or a small mako.

Go long range...the 50 to 90 lbs get bit in half.  Yellow fin tuna that is. Tiger and GW and if you never seen a hammerhead.  It looks like something from Mars.  Oh, yeah anything that has been shark bit does not go into the slammers.  It becomes chuck bait.

On the Royal Polaris I had a 100+ lb yellowfin at deep color and it got sawed off at the pectoral fins, one bite (with a pretty good run). The deck hand looked at the bite radius and said "that was a big one." The tunas gill plates were still moving.
What was left of the loins went to the galley for our sushi and sashimi lunch spread, at least it was well bled.
