Check out RAD bikes.  They have the Radrunner+ with a seat or even a child carrier.  I think the second seat is rated at 95 lbs.

Used to do it in the 90s.  150-200 miles a week.  A few century events and a couple of double centuries a year. I'm an old fart now though  :smt001

Same here. Many, many long road bike rides through the hills of Sonoma county years back and doing the Terrible Two once. Eventually age got me although I still ride some. Thirty mile rides suit me fine now.

After a looking at many options and reading reviews, I finally decided to go with this bike:  https://himiwaybike.com/products/all-terrain-step-thru-electric-bike and just ordered mine right now  :smt003

Reasons I decided to go with this particular bike:

Front shocks and 26" X 4" tires for all terrain use
High load capacity 350lbs, higher than most it seems
Decided I like a step-through vs mountain bike style
Looks very comfortable for a larger person like me, hoping the seat is nice
Has a 750w motor, sort of required for larger riders, but also budget friendly
One of the largest batteries I've seen for a <$2000 E-Bike, greatest distance

With $150 off, it was cheaper than a lot of more expensive brand names
- No tax, Free shipping= $1549.00 total
- but still a fairly trusted brand name
- with a warranty, and a big following online

If anyone is interested in also getting a Himiway bike, I have another 60$ off coupon for ya!

Way to do the research and homework, not only for you, but the rest of us :smt006

Comes put together or "some assembly required?"

Definitely some assembly required, from the FAQ:

Quote
Our customers generally need 45 to 70 minutes to assemble the bike. Does it take too long? Check out the Himiway's official instruction video or find a pro on Voletooler for help.

Also, I'm not sure how long it will take to arrive yet.  Some reviews showed up to a couple of months.  Hopefully supply chain isn't an issue, but will let ya guys know when I get confirmation.

are those cable-actuated disk brakes on a $2000 bike...?  what model fork is that? doesn't look to have any rebound or pressure adjustment.  not tryna rain on your parade but there's a lot of electric bikes that are being made by companies that have never even made a normal bike.  my point is, that's a lot of money for something that looks like a fancy bike- but I had the same tektro brakes on my 2006 Giant.

The fork is a no-name fork with no rebound, ramp, or pressure adjustment, unfortunately, more of a trampoline off road than suspension.

They focus so much on the wow factor of "Usb plug" "Integrated lights" "LCD Display" they hide the fact that's got the lowest tier drivetrain Shimano even manufactures, and the brakes over a generation old.  I wish you luck.

Totally come off as a bike snob, and that's whatever, but the key to a good experience is quality components where they matter.  Having all the fancy bits and bobs is cool, but if they're strapped to a frame with poor geometry, a 10 year old drivetrain that costs 5% of the bikes msrp, and components with no proper way to maintain (that is not a rebuildable fork- and an off brand crank and front cog you will  have an interesting time replacing if ever damaged- will likely nee da new bottom bracket, but it doesn't even spec if its a press fit bb or threaded lol), its never going to end well.

just my 2 cents.

I would buy a decent bike by a proper brand, and put a hub motor and battery on it. it will cost half as much and preform 1500% better. and a bike shop will not hate you for any service trip you take it to them for.

This is akin to when someone shows up to the kayak launch with this thing https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Motor-Kayak-Gasoline-Air-cooled-Jet_1600342672350.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.normal_offer.d_title.220762dcxYMVf9&s=p- Looks like a kayak- might works kinda like a kayak, but anyone who kayaks will look at you really funny and pray for your wellbeing

Yeah, it's not the top of the line components for sure on that thing.  Buying a nice bike and converting it makes a lot of sense, unless you want a mid drive which seem to be way more powerful.  I really wanted to buy a QuietKat, but so so much more $$$ for one with the options I would like. I was very close to buying a Rad Power Bike, but it's price 450$ higher and it's load and battery capacity were lower than the Himiway.  But you can tell that they put a lot more time and effort into their designs with RadPower bikes.  I came to the conclusion that this is still much better than buying one of the cheaper bikes on Amazon, and I really like the look of it.  No idea what I will hate about it, but will be sure to give an honest review.  If cost wasn't an issue, I think the Jeep E-Bike would be what I would order, that things a beast!

One of the videos that I liked comparing some of the fat tire step through I was considering:

The Jeep E bike is probably the best example of a company that has no business making bikes that is making bikes. Brands will make anything they can sell with their logo

Well, Jeep isn't making them QuietKat is, but using their branding to popularize it.  That thing is $7000 bucks, but sure is packed full of the most power, speed, torque, features, etc.  It's in a class by itself IMHO, and if money wasn't an object, I buy it  :smt003    I appreciate that you are a purist when it comes to biking, and bike equipment manufacturers.  Many felt the  same way about Sit On Top's when they were SIK enthusiasts.  And then peddle vs paddle yakers. Skier's and snowboarders, etc.  Whether you think someone should or should not be building bikes, doesn't really matter.  If someone is buying them, that's what matters.  It's not diminishing your brand, or style, or reflecting on your personal beliefs.  It's just a product.  Something to have fun with and enjoy.  You might not enjoy it, but someone will.

One upgrade you might consider if you will be doing steep descents is hydraulic brakes and perhaps a larger front rotor. You mentioned in past posts of being on the large size and ebikes are not light either and safe braking is a must. Maybe it will be perfectly adequate for you right out of the box but if not a good bike shop or yourself could convert it to hydraulic. Much easier on the hands than mechanical also. Happy riding.

Of all the ones I looked at, only the Aventon had the hydraulic brakes:  https://www.aventon.com/products/aventure-ebike#  And it was definitely something I considered.  In that video I posted they did braking distance tests, and it for sure won over the others.  Nice to know it can be modified later, ty!

The Aventon Aventure has both hydraulic brakes and over sized 180mm rotor.
Best Buy now carries them in stock and they have a $200 off Black Friday sale on now.
