Thank you for taking the time to give out those great safety tips. I went on a guided fishing trip out of Monterey last year and had a great time although my guide was not very helpful.  I do have a wetsuit that I plan on wearing when I'm out. I have yet to try and perform a self rescue and get back on my kayak in the water.  Maybe I should do that, head to the lake and be sure that I can get back on while I'm in the water this weekend.

Hum, I never pay for parking at SC, I just park outside after unloading my gear.  They had been enforcing a launch fee, but I haven't seen anyone in the kisok for years now.

Funny you should mention that. Last week I was chatting with the lady who used to man (woman?) the kiosk, and she laughed about the fact that most people don't pay to launch, since there's nobody to enforce it.

I've got to figure out an easy way to launch my AI from that side of the harbor. I don't even mind paying, as it would be worth just about any price to avoid having to deal with doofus powerboaters.

It can be done im sure, although the first dock seems to have shrunk a bit, I think the second one was still the same size last I saw.  I launched my AI with single ama just fine.  I think it's doable by setting up one ama/aka and then slide it into the water and then attach the other side and slip it into the water folded in would work.  Or I've also considered launching off the beach behind the Crows Nest, depending on the swells.

Now Sunday is looking much better than Saturday in most places.
I have to admit, I've never practiced self rescue on my Outback. Used to do it with my Necky, but that was a different animal - easier to turn over but harder to get back in. I'm pretty sure if I ever flip it, it's gonna be in bad conditions (which flat water does not mimic) and a shit show and a probable radio call if I don't have partners around.

Hey Renzo,

If you're still interested, I think I will try SC tomorrow and target the reefs off the lighthouse on the West side. Probably arrive in the West side parking area around 7:00 or 7:30.

Yeah this weekend is not gonna work.   Gonna be busy with the family.  Maybe another weekend. Also available during the week I. The mornings before work on Tuesdays and Fridays on most weeks.
Thanks for the invite though!
