Slow day at HMB. Started at 7:30 am to try to get a ling.

I guess someone caught salmon at HMB recently because  there were already bunch of boats trolling for salmon. The trolling boats are a bit spooky in the fog.

Started with the saibiki to try and find some bait. Found some large jacksmelt but no big schools.

Started trolling the sabiki to find the next bait fish school and caught this little guy. It was about 7 inches. Not sure if it's a juvenile salmon or stealhead  but either way I quickly took these pics and let it go. Hopefully it gets to grow nice and big.

Otherwise, it was slow. Got a nice size china and a few blues.

You know, most people don't care what a 7" salmon looks like. Your priority should be releasing it as safely as possible, rather than doing everything with one hand because you have your phone in the other hand.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Yup, that fish is probably dead after that photo op.  I just don't get people having the need to take pics of undersized hali and salmon, even if it is for a few seconds.

I caught a few juvenile salmon around this time last year. Yeah, I would have shaken it off while leaving it in the water.
