Have tried and tried to catch a halibut in Monterey, and have really enjoyed fishing there the last four outings, but still haven't gotten a halibut.  With crabbing coming up soon and the cooler weather, days are running short to get a butt.  Think I'll give SC a shot on Saturday, and try trolling for them.  Weather so far looking pretty good far for this weekend, and decent tides.

This just got me thinking about the sporty days ahead when the SC harbor becomes shoaled :smt044 Looks like the swell should continue to drop over the weekend. I'm going to make a charge for halibut on Tuesday  :smt006

It does look like conditions should be good this weekend--tides are especially favorable. I'm hoping to go out on Friday, and if so, I'll post a report.

I don't usually sabiki or fish bait, but I'll let you know if I should happen to run across any mackerel.

Right now, conditions look incredible on the webcams...

Try no less than 5 times to get a SC/Capitola Halibut yet no luck :smt005. Seeing other yakers hooked up good hali onsite gives me hopes to keep fishing :smt007

Nice fish! :smt007

I heard Mack's have moved out, any truth?

Macks are still there but maybe not as much like before? Caught 15 two day ago and went fishing.
