Hey!  It wasn't me!  I know why they're so heavy - they're all designed to be bass boats.  That's the fastest growing market segment.

Yep, between the needed structural rigidity requirements to withstand the forces of pedal drive wells and the stability to stand and sight fish - it's the seemingly inevitable result.

Maybe when that market has reached saturation we will see some lighter models targeting the rest of us  - salt paddlers.

I got mandatory evacuated early yesterday, and our house is under constant threat. Hasn't burned down yet and I'm staying with family in Sacramento until this thing blows over. I'm okay and luckily so is our house still as far as we know. Appreciate the concern.

My Nucanoe is only 60 odd lbs and I have the pedal drive for it.  The boat is great in bassy waters and I have used it at SC and HMB.  For more bouncy conditions it is the Fusion or the Revo though.  Those clock in at 70ish.  Not too bad. 

I think my Hobie Compass is 64 lbs.  maybe 67. 

It feels ethereal when I move mine after helping a friend with his Pro angler 12.   I know I can get it on a car top
