The guy is OK. He flipped the day before on Tuesday, lost his seat, his fish, his paddle, among other things. He made it back though. I sent him the link. He called the coast guard to let him know he was OK. He was asked to describe the items that were found to confirm. Happy ending.

Damn, thanks for the update man.

I wonder if it's one of the guys I saw paddling out yesterday....

I was out there at 8am, fog was crazy thick and waves looked a bit too dicey to me given visibility so I noped out of there soon after I exited the jaws. Did not feel safe at all and I just tooled around the harbor for a while instead to stretch the legs and get some exercise. Makes me doubly glad I decided not to risk it.

I guess he was on some sort of pedal drive and made it back safely w/out seat and paddle? Lucky guy!

Great news….
Personal takeaway= if I dump it and loose anything that floats and may wash ashore, notify CG or local LE with a description of said items should they actually come ashore. May just prevent resources being used needlessly.

Anyone else with that thought? Or a reason why this may be a flawed idea?

Glad it’s all okay! Post such as this are grave reminders of the harsh realities of the sport.

Probably couldn't hurt, especially if you lose your kayak seat! The other things might not make people wonder as much...

I'm good at fishing. Someday, I hope to be good at catching.

2008 Old Town Cayuga 146 (<-- def not a typical fishing kayak, but it's only 50 lbs. and has given me a solid 12 years of paddling with many more to come)
