Not really.  I have had several 245s and the go goofy in 100+ feet of salt unless you swicth beams.  They are good little units but the Humminbirds (with the exception of the Pirahnas) are well worth the extra cash IMHO.

good to know, I had my 242 in deep water at moss and it starting blinking in about 200 feet of water but I could believe the ability to resolve a target goes far before the blinking starts.

haven't had the 245 DS in real deep water yet.
