Does anyone make their own shock cord? Interested in seeing how if anyone makes their own.

I don't but I imagine it isn't all that difficult. Just go to a dive shop and see what other guns use and copy it. The shop will more than likely sell what you need.

you can get:

dacron line about 1 ft.
polespear rubber (about 4 inches)

tie a loop at one end of the dacron line
thread it through the polespear bungee and tie the looped end with twine so it stays put at the end of the bungee.

make a loop for the untied end of the dacron

stretch the bungee and pinch the dacron line to suck up the length of the line where the newest loop was made. use twine to tie that end up.

basically it'll stretch up to the point of the length of the dacron and no more yet have enough pull to keep the line on the gun and not fall off.

tie a swivel / snap in there so you can release the shaft from the gun in case it gets stuck in some rocks.

thats how i do it because bungee and swivel setups can get pricey.
