Do Pelican “hydryve” parts fit a Hobie mirage drive?

I was at West Marine today and they had a Pelican pedal drive kayak. I’d never looked closely at the Pelican pedal system (they call it hydryve), but the cables/chain look to be virtually identical to those on a Hobie mirage drive. So, I’m wondering if the Pelican cables will work on a Hobie. I can’t seem to find the hydryve cables online, but I’d bet they are cheaper than the corresponding Hobie parts. If so, it might be a good source for spare parts for a Hobie.

Since your last post about making cables and parts I actually looked into making my own set.  The parts aren’t really that expensive once u have the cable crimping tool. I’ll let u know if I give it a go.

I did find the stainless chain that Hobie uses, and it's not too expensive.

I recall that the V1 Mirage drive came up on it's patent date or something like that, and now others can copy it.  They may have a few mods to it, but seems like a total knock off.

that is exactly what happened! patents last 20 years so all the other mfgs are jumping in headfirst using the specs in the patent from 1997 or 1998 i believe
