Small brown fish with a full set of teeth caught on a Sabiki at Santa Cruz

Hi Yaker:

          I have been catching lots of small brown bait Approx. 5" on my Sabiki along with anchovies on the Bottom in about 50' off of Pleasure Pt in Santa Cruz and Cap . They come with a good set of needle teeth!
         Anyone know what type of Fish they are? Are they good for bait?  I release them because  they  look like Finger Lings.

I've been catching those this year too.  They are lizardfish and sometimes they've been quite numerous.  I've used them for bait and seem to work ok.

here's one I caught at MBK...

They are actually a pretty durable bait fish for trolling, they last much longer than anchovies. I like to inject herring oil in to them and put them in RSKs.
