Anyone know where I can get a longer power cable for the Lowrance Elite 4x-HDI?
I want to move my FF closer to my seat for better access, but don't want to move the battery as it is in an optimal spot.
The only power cable I've found is only 4 ft, and I probably need 4 to 6 ft. Below is the 4 footer.
Any ideas if I can get a longer one or just an extender?

Thanks!
Andrew

You can cut the cable and add any length of similar gauge or better wire in between.  The transducer cable is the only one that cares about length as it uses the length of cable as a constant in the calculation of how long it takes to send and receive a signal.  So, if you're comfortable with soldering, get some shrink tube and some solder.  The cable comes with bare ends as best I can tell.  You can add your new cable to this.  At Home Depot, you'll see "landscape wire."  This is 16 gauge, 2 conductor wire with sheathing that's rated for outdoor use.  I wouldn't hesitate to use that.  If you want to get extra fancy, you could get some 18 gauge duplex marine wire by the foot from West Marine for under a buck a foot.  Either way, solder and shrink tube each conductor, then shrink tube over the whole splice.

Thanks for the tips. Seems dumb they don't just make a longer version.
I'm not much of an electrician, but I'll consider this. Or I could just continue leaning forward to reach my FF!

It would be really easy to do as long as you have the tools to solder with, take like 5 mins.  I happen to have all of the stuff except the wire, but located probably far away from ya.  There are a couple of non-solder options too though.  You could use a connector https://www.amazon.com/ELECFUN-10-22AWG-Connectors-Insulated-Electrical/dp/B07G5W9PH1/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=crimp+connector&qid=1626389757&sr=8-5 or one of these fancy soldering crimp connecters that just need heat: https://www.amazon.com/ELECFUN-Waterproof-Connectors-Insulated-Automotive/dp/B08DHT3BT4/ref=sxin_13_ac_d_pm?ac_md=1-0-VW5kZXIgJDEw-ac_d_pm&cv_ct_cx=crimp+connector&dchild=1&keywords=crimp+connector&pd_rd_i=B08DHT3BT4&pd_rd_r=603f67cf-516e-44a8-8e83-e003e0a782e9&pd_rd_w=VESXd&pd_rd_wg=7y4we&pf_rd_p=fbf6011c-6632-49e8-9631-4e76f7f44920&pf_rd_r=PTD0W20J162QJH5NNEM9&psc=1&qid=1626389757&sr=1-1-22d05c05-1231-4126-b7c4-3e7a9c0027d0

But hell you could just twist the wires together, wrap it in electrical tape really good, and easily extend that cable as long as you want.  Soldering would be best though, you can tin the tips of the other end which will help them last.

I'd be more than happy to solder it for you and/or teach you how to solder it.  If you're fully vaxxed, I have all the tools and supplies already and you can stop by and get it done in about 15 minutes.  If you're not fully vaxxed yet, you can drop it off and I can solder it for you.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm just going to twist them and use heat shrink. I watched a few YouTube tutorials and it looks easy enough.
Thanks.

Don't forget the dialectic grease on the exposed wire before you twist.  Not a lot, just coat the tips and twist then have at it...

Or liquid electrical tape for a more permanent solution.

Good stuff!  I just did up a power cable and coulda used this tape.  I love insulating against the salt, seems like a lifelong challenge. :smt006
