Thanks for the Link Tote, but no friends. The one good thing, I guess, is that it should have the latest software because it must still be in production. So maybe there's a bright side?

I just hate waiting! Once I decide I want something, I want it NOW!

Congrats on the new finder!

With the advent of the internet, anytime I get a "your purchase is on backorder..." I immediately cancel and shop elsewhere. Someone will have the item I am after in stock. Saving 5 bucks isn’t worth my time as in this case, a 3 month wait is ridiculous.

To each his/her own, just my $.02. A color FF is like dubs for a yak! Yard-I-ming. Word.

Sounds like a long wait for a fishfinder. I stumbled into a deal (factoryoutletstore.com) on a Humminbird 787c2i with the Navionics bundle and the add-on barometer that's Humminbird is currently pushing as a freebie. Not necessarily much of a story there, except that they were selling it for about the same price as everyone else, less a hefty instant rebate of $120, bringing it down to $729.95. And it arrived within a week. It's already installed in one of my X-factors, but between chores, weather, and a wrist injury, I haven't been able to get out and enjoy it yet.

I like the "chartplot" feature.  Would be nice to see bottom contours in 2D rather than what a normal FF shows us.

I ended up saving $50 buy placing my order back in the day. Since then, the price has jumped. I'm in the middle of the install right now. It came with an instruction BOOK on how to use it. It's big!

The UNIT is big, or the BOOK is big?

I suspected so. Enjoy the improved view.
