What kind of pots are you all using? I bourbon myself a small metal cheese wheel shaped one. Affixed a couple pieces of an old broom handle in two scupper holes to set it on so it stays aboard. I’m tempted to get the collapsible net ones so i can put out more than one trap each time.

Thoughts?

I'm a big fan of the collapsible Danielson/Promar metal box traps.  I got mine for about $20 and could easily fit 4 on my yak.  I recently upgraded to a pedal kayak though and the pedal drive makes it much harder to reassemble the traps on the water.  I'm curious how durable those collapsible net pots are.

I've heard the challenge with the collapsible net pots is that you lose some crabs as the top is not enclosed, but they seem like they'd be much easier to transport on the kayak.

Have been using a combination of one danielson style +2 basic hoop rings w/ decent success. Not being overly loaded seems to help in anxiety if dealing w/ surf. Remember that getting a load of crabs can add a significant amount of weight/take space as well.

just got back from Fisherman's Warehouse - Sacto.  They have some of these for like $30

look pretty nice, almost grabbed one...next time

still need rope and floats, and probably a weight to hold the next in place
