Got first of Moderna series wednesday. Was feeling kinda giddy immediately after and shortly thereafter. Went fishing the next morning. Sore shoulder for 2 days.

Got the first shot of Moderna in late February. Sore arm - that was it. Second shot a week ago Wednesday - sore arm for a day. No other side effects.

My wife and I and my older son have all been fully vaccinated (Pfizer) for more than 2 weeks. My younger son gets his first dose on Monday. No serious issues so far.

Pfizer here:

First shot: dizzy in about 2 hours lasting about 2 days, arm sore for 8 days straight, chills/feverish (no actual fever but felt extremely hot and started having dehydration issues) for 3-4 days straight, diarrhea. Fatigue/sleepiness lasting about 3-4 days, can't remember.

Second shot: Had me on a 30 minute wait instead of 15 due to my reaction to first shot.... dizzy after about 45 minutes total, though, lasting just the first day, was fine when I woke up. Diarrhea again, sadly.... chills a couple days, and fatigue/sleepiness for 2 days.

I'm waiting for the J&J.  (personal preference and reasons). Frustrated that they had a few bad batches.  All of the vaccines seem to have an array of side effects that vary from person to person, so my opinion is if you can get a vaccine and you want it, then go ahead and get it.

My wife has an auto-immune disorder and her doctor is adamant that she not get Pfizer or Moderna.

It seems to me that Pfizer and Moderna are well ahead of the rest of the pack in terms of effectiveness in trials. Then there is this (rare) issue wrt J&J, that does not seem to arise with the mRNA vaccines:

I agree with you nowhere and each vaccine has different side effects on different people.  For the majority it ranges from nothing to having flu like symptoms for a day or two.  Moderna and Pfizer have been linked to allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, but these are rare issues as well.  My choice is based on the advice of a local doctor that I know.  He is also saying to hold off on the J&J until they get their production and quality issues under control.

I guess I'll be a social outcast.  By not taking the vaccine I'll have the same risk factor of 1 in 20 that have taken the Pfizer of Moderna vaccine or roughly 1 in 3 of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

I'm confused. Are you saying that getting vaccinated will not reduce your chance of infection? There are beautiful clinical trial results that say otherwise.

Or maybe you are talking about your risk of serious illness or death? Most of us who are in low-risk groups aren't primarily getting vaccinated to protect ourselves. We're doing it to protect the older and at-risk, and to stop future outbreaks. The faster we can shut COVID down globally, the less chance that really nasty variants will emerge.

Of course, the risk is extremely low with all of the vaccines, but it looks like J&J is out of the running, at least temporarily:

Me too. Those "1 in 20" and "1 in 3" numbers make no sense, no matter how you slice and dice the data.

SOMA wears a tin foil hat if that helps you kpd and nowhere  :smt044

I agree with you that J&J is having issues with production quality and there are side effects similar to astra zeneca.

I will still wait for the J&J; which should be in a better position in about 30 days.

I could take the Pfizer or Moderna as well but the mRNA is why I am hesitant.  Plus, if there is any history in your family of auto immune disease then they should avoid it (based on the Doctor I know).

I gotta admit injecting mRNA into my body which basically told my body to produce a protein that didn't belong there, did give me pause. Did my homework, and was convinced to get the vaccine long before I was eligible. Been fully vacced for over a month now, Moderna, mild sore arm and a little fatigue on the first shot, both symptom a little worse on the second but not enough to even change my routine day.
