It also helps if you stretch your hips and related muscles regularly.  And practice sitting in the posture you use while kayaking, legs in front with knees slightly elevated, back straight and upright.  You'd be surprised how long you CAN'T hold this position.  Try it.  Do this regularly and you'll build up your kayak sitting core, increasing the amount of time you hold this posture comfortably.

Meditating regularly in the classic meditation pose, cross legged with back straight, has a similar effect, so may as well kill 2 birds with one stone and take up meditation!

I just do a few bicycle kicks before the landing.  That also looks silly, especially since I don't have a pedal kayak*.

:smt005 - that was the point! The OG crew were terrible with such shenanigans, some are in old threads. Make your own assessment as to the height (depth?) of the back and forth volleys.  :smt003

Wow! Thanks all. I was nervous about posting that since I had never heard anyone else have it.  Yeah, more than once I've basically rolled out of my yak onto the sand after a long paddle.  For a rough surf landing I think one is highly dependent on someone grabbing the nose and controlling that end of the boat. You just can't do that if you can't walk.....I hadn't tried the stretching thing, and I will definitely make a seat pad to relieve the  pressure a bit. Thanks all.
