Got a flat going to the launch at HMB yesterday.  After looking it up the suggested method of fixing is to gently melt and reseal the cut. Has anyone done this before and have any pointers?

Very nice vid. Them wheels be bomb. I've had wheeleze for ages now and no mechanical quality issues except for one of the plastic bearing sleeve doohickies sticking to arms when taking on and off... think sand probably roughed things up. Been using silicone spray to assist sticky issue

Yeah I got some used ones that had sat a while and we're all locked up with corrosion.  Pulled the ouch pins and slid the wheels off the axels, quck scrub and lube, and they were like new.  Great design for something that is going to be exposed to sand and saltwater all the time.

Good to know about the tire repair method too!

I would look into using a Core puller on the valve and loading a bit of Bike Tire Sealant into the tire before you fill it back up as extra insurance... This stuff is magic...  I use Stans in mine

I gaffed my Rolleez (yeah, I've had it that long) while both the gaff and the cart were in the trunk - takes skill!   Used a soldering iron to melt the plastic and it's never been a problem again.

Sounds good, but would the sealant possibly contaminate say a slice puncture so it would be more difficult to seal via the pinch and from the inside-out method?

Sorry for the lag on this update.

Thanks for the tip!.  Went To REI to investigate the sealant and the helpful staff (who worked with Mooch) said it would probably work with the Core puller, there was a warning to not leave the sealant in the tire more that 6 months on the sealants offered at REI, others in research have longer times on the warning) or so because it could harden causing a different problem for the squishy wheels.

Spoke to CalKayak and the manager reached out to Hobie.  They suggested smoothing over the hole with a hot knife.

I used a soldering iron at the lowest setting (200C) and filled in/smoothed out the hole.  At that temp it melted the wheel quickly so I ended up turning the iron off and on often to keep the temp as low as possible when moving the material into the hole after the initial initial pinch and seal technique. Passed the soapy bubble test and refilled it at the gas station with a quick burst from the air pump.  I did my best to release the air to match the other wheel, was easier to gauge when installed on the kayak for a more dramatic squish.

Thanks for the insight and support!
