Don't use a very small rock, as it will float...

I think I still have a couple of weights made of 1' rebar sections and string after someone posted about 12 yrs ago about doing that- they actually worked fairly well for trolling for lings, but I needed to  be careful not to bonk myself with them swinging around in the air.    I don't lose very many cannonball weights anymore because I've learned some tricks about un-snagging them.

Tobacco bags filled with sand or pebbles also work!

Kinda snag proof as well.

Lead belongs where lead belongs, not inside fish!

have a nice day OTW.

I think they max out at 2oz of weight which doesn’t sit well in certain ocean conditions...

Anyone have a link to packs of these tobacco bags?  I tried looking it up and all my google results were for little plastic 20 sacks like I remember from highschool :smt003

After losing a few weights casting from shore at new brighton today I'm ready to give sand filled bags a shot!

When I was a kid in Puerto Rico, we used to handline off the beach, using old spark plugs for weight. My buddy came unglued when he saw me do it at Ft. Ross. This is better!

(Apparently I'm as dense as lead, I meant lead is 4.2x the density of granite...  :smt075)

I had to laugh when I read that! We're all there at some point. My first thought was "huh?" Thanks for the tip.
