I'm getting ready to set an appt. in San Francisco to obtain a passport that i should have applied for ages ago.

Considering a trip s early as Thanksgiving. Seems to be a 4 to 8 week process ?

Any help welcomed on how to shorten the process time.

Has anyone ever used a third party for an expedited process like this ?

A friends uncle has a place in Hermosillo , Sonora Mex. Would be fishing the area of Tiburon island. Launching somewhere near Bahio Kino i believe. Short notice inviter.  :smt001

Had already been shmuzzing the wifey with the guest bathroom remodel for just an occasion.  :smt005

Thanks,

Alex

You should be able to get it done at a post office acceptance facility, pay for expedited service BOTH WAYS and get it in 3 weeks unless covid has changed that process too. You need to prove travel plans within 2 weeks to make an appt at SF and you will be paying expedited services anyway.

I'm not sure how it works with COVID slowdowns, but a few years ago you could pay for expedited service through regular channels (we used the post office) and that would get you the passport in a couple of weeks. I would check with my local post office to see what the times and cost are are now. I used to use an expedited service like the one you mentioned for visas at work years ago and it was indeed fast, but that requires more steps so I'm not sure how much faster getting a passport would be than just paying the post office more for expedited service. Hopefully someone has direct experience.

Sound like a great trip.

The 3rd party expedited service basically go to SF for you. You would still have to prove travel plans in 2 weeks and still have to go to an acceptance facility for them to process the paperwork.

I was the main guy in El Dorado County who accepted passport applications. I easily did over 10,000.
I am sending you a PM

Appt and paper work being gathered as we speak. Looks like i have this Thursday/ Friday as an option for appt with local post office.

Looks like i will have plenty of time to have my passport if i make this trip.

Spoke to Tote who gave me a detailed explanation of all documents needed .

you can do expedited service without being a third party...think you have to have imminent travel.

I've fished kino bay for sierra, and there's good clamming there. Fished ton from a yak back in the day at San Carlos (which is south of Hermosilo).  Lots of close bonita and some yellowfin in november...sierra as well.  stayed on the beach at what i think is now just the La Playa bar and grill.

Good luck Alex. I personally use the expedite process directly. You have to pay a bit more but it worked. These days with COVID, I have no ideas though.
