i just got my T_bone bed-extender in the mail.  what a cumbersome behemoth!!  at least its lightweight!

got me thinking.  you roll up to your kayak spot, unload..you toss that thing into the truck?  thankfully i can shoehorn it under my camper-shell.  seems like an easily stolen item?  even a hitch lock is low hanging fruit for a sawzall.

in general, i like it.  i will tie my red-flag on it instead of the nose of my kayak.  i keep forgetting to do so.  i'm destined for a violation ticket.

I've wondered the same thing and not come up with a good solution.  Leave it in the truck and someone breaks a window...more expensive than the extender.  Leave it in the back and your window doesn't get broken...but you need a new extender.  If someone wants it badly enough they're going to get it.  Maybe some kind of cable and lock fed through the hitch pin holes and secured to truck bed tiedowns?
I'd like to know anybody's MacGyver security solution to this problem.

I’ve been using one for 7 yrs...
Never had a problem with theft.
I like it cause its so quick and easy to load and unload!
No heavy lifting, also  the red flag is a good idea
A Hitch lock  is what I use once in a while...

That’s a nice setup. I wonder if it would work with an AI.

Anyways, a hitch lock seems like a simple anti-theft solution.

Make one that comes apart for easy storage and has lights.
You could tuck this on the floor behind your seats.
