I'm currently alternating between a pair of CRKT Hammond Cruisers (depending on the color I'm wearing that day :smt044).
I had issues with some EDC knives having grips that were too small for my hands, which is why I went with the Hammond Cruiser. It's kind of big for an EDC, but who ever went wrong carrying too much knife? :smt005

I stopped carrying a knife in every day situations because I have an affinity towards fixed blade knives, and don't want a dangler off my belt loop, and don't want to be considered concealed carrying a dagger/dirk cause I'll be damned if I'm going to tuck in my t-shirt to my shorts lol.

but when I did I carried a benchmade  hidden canyon hunter. it's seen better days and I need to grind out a pretty big chip, but it's served me really well.

I gave so many up at the airports I quit using. Now that I am grounded this reminded me how awesome a pocketknife is.

There are a lot of super nice ones out there, but I abuse mine so badly that I just buy a sub $20 one each time and use it till I break it.

The replaceable blade folders can be nice as well, like Johnny posted.

My current one is a little Kubota branded cheapo from the tractor store, has held up longer than most.  But having said that I'll probably snap it tomorrow.

I love the Moras for fixed blades, not to pricy and good quality.  And I'm not as hard on them as my every day folder.

Spyderco Military G10 in black. 4" blade and keeps it's edge longer than any other I've had.  Not cheap, around $200.  I got it as a safety award back when I worked for SMUD.  It's engraved with the SMUD logo on the blade.  10 years without an accident and they give you a sharp knife to play with.  I couldn't wait to see what 20 years got me.  I was hoping for an assault rifle!

However, I too prefer a fixed blade and for that the Schrade Old Timer Sharpfinger 1520T.  3 1/2" blade is by far the easiest knife I've ever had to sharpen, just a few strops on the inside of a leather belt, and it will dress out any deer in California.  You'll find them everywhere for $20 or less.  I probably have 7 or 8 of these around the house, in the kayak, camper, motorcycle pack, every day pack, etc.  I have no idea if I carry it legal, never been stopped and asked if I had one.
Comes with a leather holster for the $20 or less price too!

Spyderco endura 4”, my wife dreads using it for cutting tape or boxes open.  When deployed it seems crazy big to her but I’m used to it...I want similar for salt but so expensive...

Moras get used more than anything else.  I used one today to weed and cut twine.

Rather than carry one, I have a few posted around the house and garden.

I used to carry one on my belt because I like cheap stuff that are effective. That was until I was horsing around with my son and it opened somehow. The first time I thought it was a fluke. The second time, I was a firm believe I was lucky not cutting myself with it. Now I leave a couple around the house and car instead.

I have one of the Spyderco Military G10s I use when mushroom foraging. It stays in may pocket, and I use a smaller Spydero Salt for field cleaning. I have a Spyderco Salt for use when fishing in the kayak as well.
