I saw Fishunters Paradise hookup post and we decided to give it a try Sunday. I drove to San Rafael and loaded up on Shiners at Loch Lomond, then headed for Paradise Park in Tiburon(fitting name).
In Tiburon I saw a sign posted for some kind of race and started seeing flagmen and markers. I was hoping it wasn't staging at the park, but along the way there were scads of bikes two and three abreast hogging the road. After negotiating the bikes and twisty road the park came into view. I pulled in and Rockhopper(Dustin) was unloading his yak, soon after Fishunter (Adam) rolls in.
The park is very nice, clean, and well maintained with a big bathroom and paved trail to the launch. The launch is down a hill and pretty easy but you have to watch the slippery algae at the waters edge.
We tried several drifts at different depths and areas. Dustin finally hooks up on a Leopard Shark that he skillfully lipped and released. I followed with a much smaller shark that sawed himself off at the boat while I tried to lip him.
That was pretty much it for the day.
Good company, great weather, uncooperative Halibut!

I got sunburn on my legs Saturday because I wore shorts.  It was one time that I was glad the Prowler is a wet boat.  I would go there again but not for Halibut.  In the next few weeks, this place will light up with Salmon.  You will be able to tell when the Salmon have arrived.  Everyone will be trolling and not drifting for Halibut.  The Kayaks will have a shot at it because the Salmon cruise close to the pier and use this spot as the final place to feed and begin their transition from Salt to Fresh water.  I'll let you know when I go but I am certain the Summer run has already begun.  There are telltale signs that indicate they are already there but not in numbers.  I don't mind sharing the information because this fishing is really spotty but all it takes is one to be a memory of a lifetime.  These fish will be at their fattest and strongest point in their lives in preparation for the swim back to the river so make sure you are geared correctly.  I have only seen and caught them while trolling (I've never seen a moocher catch one at Cal. City).  I would highly suggest a release sinker setup because some of these fish will be in the 30+ class and the last thing you want is extra weight on your line.
