Hit up the Marin coast on Friday, launching out of Muir Beach with Sosanista, and trolling north. He lost a shaker early, followed by a keeper not far out of the cove. Trolled the rest of the morning north to Rocky point and back without a scratch. Water was warm (63-66 deg) alternating between green and reddish (thinking red tide is here too). Heard some others getting bit out of Bolinas.

Was about to throw in the towel, but the tide starting rolling back in around 2 and the party boats showed up en masse near Muir Beach. Saw LOTS of bait in the sonar so decided to stay. Hooked up into a nice king and fought it for a while while all the party boats looked on. Fought for several minutes and landed it!  Trolled a while longer with no more looks. Was an exciting day. Thanks sosanista.

@Rock Hopper,
We were trolling Apex watermelon and also anchovies. Didn’t have any luck on the anchovies, but Sosanista got his on the Apex. Other folks on the radio however, were hooking up on straight bait. I actually got mine jigging a laser minnow through the bait ball. I think it looked erratic and different enough from all the other natural bait and trolled rigs from the other boats to get hit. The fish was hot and did all the moves (running at the boat, jumping, and bulldogging down) to make it fun.
