I was planning on hitting HMB tomorrow 8/15 after skunking in the too-choppy conditions last weekend. But now I'm worried about the red tide. How far out has it been covering? Do you have to fish beyond it or can you fish under it? I haven't taken the little Hobie i9 out to the first buoy yet but probably would if conditions were nice.

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.

My brother lost a (estimated) 25# fish at the net in the red/brown water Thursday. Said not many boats out there, but he did see a power boat net a 15# fish. In other words, that brown water is not good for fishing, but it's not a deal breaker either.

Was there yesterday and there were red tide at the buoys probably Even farther out (I only stayed by the buoys). Didn’t hear of any salmon caught by kayakers. RF bite was decent for HMB. Another yakker caught 2 good size hali by the red can.

I made it out to the green buoy and a bit beyond and caught nothing but bottom and a couple small octopi. Lots of people out there but I didn't see a lot of catching. Thought I was skunked. On the way back I caught a nice 26" Hali that put up a good fight. Back at the cleaning station some guys had done pretty well with a couple lings, rockfish and a couple halibuts - one was 34" which is the largest I've seen.

I was out there this morning trying for salmon. I mostly trolled around the red can. I skunked. Only managed to get my bait stolen a few times. Only a couple other kayakers trolling for salmon as well. A couple boats also tried but they didn’t stay long. The lightning stopped for a little but now that I think about it, I probably should’ve never launched
