Today, trolling in Pacifica, I ran my Go Fish Cam while trolling a cop car Apex and an anchovy on a FBR. I had zero salmon action, but in reviewing the footage it appears some fish were interested in my offerings.

The first is obviously a kingfish. But the 2nd two - which are the same fish - don't look like a kingfish but also don't look quite like a salmon to me. The tail appears too forked. Any thoughts?
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Heard to tell, but it looks like a compressed shinny body with big eyes. Maybe American Shad?
Not sure though...

The last two summers there have been some (I think) horse mackerel caught in Pacifica and HMB. Forked tail, big eyes, similar to what's in the picture.

Those fish are really tasty, on par with salmon. The only drawback is sharp bones and not as fat as salmon.

The first is a WSB, and the others are obviously tarpon.  :smt002 :smt006

In seriousness, I agree with Naoaki's first guess: American shad or another culepid. Note the placement of the pelvic fins is wrong for Spanish/jack mackerel. I've seen an American shad caught at Linda Mar, so they are around.
Wanted to buy: Stealth ProFisha 575 or 525

Those were super tasty! Thinking of the great mackerel feed of 2015 makes me hungry.
