Awesome day on the water. To get into some fish and get that close to whales. It doesn't get better than that.
Nice job to all.

I'm just so glad that I didn't lose him.  I had all these bad feelings that if I ever did catch one, I'd lose him cuz of the barbless hook

Doug, congrats on catching your first salmon and those rare close-up whale pics.

Thanks for the report and pictures. JTF's pictures with background are super cool and worth of showing off. ChuckE - Do you have similar pictures? Salmon is good catch.
Unfortunately, those whale pics were all I was able to capture.  Timing the shot was tough.  Doug was the only other guy with a camera.  I'm glad he got some good shots.  Believe-it-or-not, the whales got even closer than what you see in his pics.

Mooch,

Since you ribbed me so much about not taking shots of the whales at Moss, I thought I'd better get a few.  Only problem was that they were coming close so frequently that pulling out my camera all the time was cutting into my fishing time.

Good to hear that the salmon are starting to be caught and awesome to be so close some of the largest creatures on this Earth.

Just out of curiosity have yaks been swamped by whales?  I suspect that their sonar let's them know where you are so they don't bump you but accidents can happen.  It may be a "whoops" to them but it could make for a miserable day for a yakker.  On the other hand we don't have to worry about them poking holes in your hull.

So is this something else I have to tell my wife too?  Will the danger never stop?

The horror Doug.....the horror  :smt003

Last year, I stopped fishing just get a good whale shot off my newly purchased optio.....which never happened :smt011....seemed like the whales were camera shy towards me :smt013......but not to Doug  :smt011 They must not like my after shave  :smt012
