I'm going try running a camera off an external battery bank, but I need a case to put it in. Anyone know of a good watertight case about 9" x 4"?
Thanks.

Are you looking for a waterproof case for the battery bank, or the camera?

I’ve thought about rigging my GoPro to run off external power so I don’t have to change the batteries all the time, but I haven’t come up with a way to protect the camera against moisture while it’s plugged in...

It would be rad if GoPro could take some tips from Apple and design a water resistant/proof plug! (Maybe they already have? I’m behind the times on that stuff...)

For the battery bank.

For the camera, I'm gonna use this external cable. It replaces the battery door with a foam black that probably makes it close to water proof:

And more or less any power bank in one of these:

Pelican 1060 Micro Case

Combined with a 512gb micro sd card and I'll be good to go.

I use the same X-PWR cable that malibu uses except for the Hero 7 Black. It works fine but the VHB tape that mines came with wasn't very good. I ended up using a stronger epoxy to keep things bonded.

For power, I just run my Gopro off my fishfinder battery. It's a 10aH lithium-iron phosphate battery that can run both for 3 days without charging. You can use a 12V to 5V step down converter, something like this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S5HFRDV). The Hero 7 Black charges at up to 5V/2A so a 2A or 3A converter is more than enough to keep it running. I also have no battery in the compartment to minimize heat.

I've used this method ever since the Hero 7 came out (maybe 2 years?) and I've had up to 5-7 hours of unbroken footage by the end of my trip.

Edit: I misread and thought malibu already uses this cable. My bad! It actually uses an o-ring to seal the area where the ports are located. The foam essentially pushes down on the cable end when you tighten the thumbscrew to compress the o-ring and to prevent the cable from falling out.

I use a Pelican 1060 case for my FF battery. Just beware if you have one with a clear cover, it can get hot AF in the sun. I once left my cell phone in it on a boat while I spearfished for hours, and when I came back, the phone was so hot I could barely hold it. Can't believe it's still working.

This box works for you?

The review says the internal dimensions are only 5x3x2, so seems kinda smallish for a battery.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I'd like to have an iPhone charging cable that's waterproof. I have my AI setup so I can plug in my iPhone, but the connection to the phone is not waterproof, so I can only use it under fairly calm conditions.

The box I posted has AC and USB connection.

There’s an 4X and 6X 18650 battery version.
