I’ve seen deep six divers melt when mixed together or plastics lures doing the same. Is this the case for kayaks also? Reason I’m asking is I have a cheap plastic tub I got from dollar store that I want to stash and leave inside the front hatch for eternity. I don’t want To one day open the hatch to find out parts of my hull has melted.

The soft plastics are the culprit here, and they won’t react with the type of plastic used to make kayaks.

I have a ~1/2” hole in my old beater kayak - left over from some old install. For the last ~5 years, it’s been plugged  with a little chunk of of a soft plastic scampi. No melting.

On the other hand, I’ve killed a couple DD6s when I got lazy at the end of the day and tossed them in a tub that happened to have a swimbait in the bottom...
