My coworker dumped his kayak up at Berryessa this weekend. He asked me if I knew anyone that might be able to dive for the gear he lost. I thought I'd post it here in case anyone wanted to earn some pay it forward points.  :smt006

A few years ago I was throwing a cast net for herring and my wedding ring flew off into the bay. There was a mental detector shop across from where I worked so I asked if I could borrow one. They suggested that it would be difficult for me to learn how to use it while 15’ deep in murky water.

They suggested I contact one of their clients who was a salvage diver for many years. I contacted him and he agreed to dive for my ring. After about 40 minutes of searching he came up with it. I talked to him today and he says your friend can call him to talk  about His situation. Let me know and I will give you his number.

$100 to try $150 if found tipped $50 so I paid $200. Berryessa is quite a drive so I expect he would want more.

Ok thanks. The guy asked me if I knew anyone that dives. I suggested asking here on the forum but I didn’t discuss the particulars. I’ll ask him for the story.

Get your heaviest ocean set up. Tie on a 6 oz weight on the bottom, then make 3 dropper loops, put on some big trebles, then a 2 oz weight on the top.  I found my neighbors special rod and reel,in 60 ft. A few years back. Bring enough gear to retire if you get stuck.
