I walked from my house down to the Bay this evening, and since it was a low tide the kids and I were poking around in the mud. Guess what I found!

Here's my version. I've been looking at the inchinku design for a while. A good friend gifted me this A-47 from a commercial boat out of SF bay. I duplicated the design using my own materials and some cheap blade jigs off of ebay. Fish Killers!

I've been using this same simple setup for RF for a long time. It works. I tie up a handful of these before I go, then I can just clip one on and start fishing.

Note the lighter mono used for the weedless "teaser". It rarely snags due to the weedless rigging, and if it does you only lose your teaser instead of the whole setup. Just clip a new one on and get back to it. The teaser is just a tube bait on a "Superline" style EWG worm hook with a few inches of mono and a loop knot. It clips directly to the figure 8 snap at the end of my main line.

I like a swim bait or diamond/bar jig like Alex B’s illustration. Just painted up a few Hopkins jigs for the RF season if I ever get out. They just need the Kevlar cord and assist hooks to finish them up.

Most of us can't go rockfishing but we can continue to share our knowledge and experience.

My favorite jig for rockfishing is 5oz Orange Inchiku with two hooks as you can see from below.
My wife has been catching so many fish with this jig, last I got demoted to a deckhand position.

During the off-season, I order a new jig I want to try which has been really popular in South Korea to catch red snappers.
The weigh slides and make much more effective to fight fish.

Please share your favorite jig.

Paul

Paul, thanks for sharing that jig. I bought a couple off Ebay, and used them at HMB yesterday. First drop, I thought it hit bottom, but the line counter said only 14ft. It was a blue rockfish. Second drop, same thing. Third drop, it made it to the bottom, but was immediately hit by a vermillion. My first verm!

You are very welcome.
Over the weekend, my wife and I both got vermillions at Mendocino Coast.
