Last year, I was a bankie getting lots of luck and a keeper striper per outing from April all the way until July with a buddy soaking chovies or sards on the lower feather from Verona to Star bend at various spots. Now I have the kayak, and I'm thinking of launching at some of our honey holes, since my buddy can 2-car shuttle me. Just wondering if anyone knows if a kayak can handle the spring flows for fishing, either from the mouth at verona until about star bend or yuba. I saw some touring kayaks launch from Beer Can Beach and paddle upriver.

Many fishermen spend their lives chasing fish, only to realize that it was themselves that they were chasing.

The "Salty" in my handle refers to my attitude, not the waters I fish

i was hoping you'd get a response, b/c i'm thinking about doing exactly this. If you want someone to give it a go with you, I'm in! strength in numbers. I've got a truck to help with shuttling yaks.

Though I'd still like to hear from someone who's tried it.

I can PM you in a few weeks once I get more intel on the flows and the bite. I'm planning to hit it from the bank just to get the dust out of my rods once this weather clears up. I'll see how manageable it is then.
