Fishkraft - have you had one out on the water, what do you think? Is the weight of 72 pounds an issue for handling?

Unfortunately I have not been able to get on the water in ages. All the reports from the Southern Hemisphere sites are good. No mention of weight issues.

Hey Y'all, They're here and I've got two left. Placing an order this week so if you're looking for a different color or a glass boat hit me up.
That's the last thing I need to hear...things might go our way if this PPP gets forgiven, I just "told" my wife...uhhhh...you know if this PPP is forgiven...uhhh...I'm prolly gettin' that kayak right?  Marc mentioned I may have underbid at 2800 for a pro475 but he said it's a start.  I'm having deep tribe vibes and I feel a carbon fiber fever comin' on...yikes...I don't think any amount of cowbell will remedy it... :smt005 :smt006

Eddie, save your money. I went carbon fiber on my 555. You start crying when you hear the hull scrape on a rock.  Ruben warned me, but I was rock and went CF anyways. Kind of wished I had saved the cash for something else. Like maybe a Jonny Boat on the side for when I don't feel like paddling.

Very interesting suggestion, do they hold up well after multiple use of ocean kayaking?

www.keeleazy.com is pretty good stuff. Expensive, but you don't need much. Follow the instructions, don't just slap it on.

Any thick tape with water resistant adhesive will work in a pinch.
https://www.mcmaster.com/marking-tape/long-life-solid-floor-marking-tape

You can add a fiberglass layer.

You can also mix epoxy with Silica thickener and apply. Add a gelcoat top layer if you want.

Zirconium Silicate is another possible alternative, as one guy posted at Yakshed (an Australia kayak forum).

When I worked on race cars, the body parts were made of CF. So to protect the paint and body from damages from rocks gravel, other cars crashing ... and to hold bodywork together.  Will definitely protect against scratches and gouges..

Thanks for that heads up.  Got me thinking for sure.  How is the CF now? Is it repaired or just live with it? :smt006

Hey y'all. Im very intrigued by this helicopter tape. Is this the same stuff guys are using on their bikes for chain slap? Does anyone here have any experience using it on fiberglass? Do you think it would damage the gelcoat? How would the adhesion hold up to saltwater? Any feedback would be great

The big for me was the fixed rudder, I am in the process of converting to a rear retractable. This has also got me thinking about adding a Bixpy. Yeah I said it.  There are days when I am out in the sound and I am never going to overcome the current.  Or when I am going for flounder near the Nisqually delta and can't stay on point for crap. It won't make it a speed demon, but it will keep me where I want to be or  allow me to troll and keep my hands free.

Kevin, have you been following rogerdodger on NWKA with those thrusters on his rudder?  He seems to make decent speed with decent battery life using them on a Hobie Outback - and it looks to be cheaper than a Bixpy jet.

Hey Tink, Don't know him, but I do know the guy from South Africa.  I reached out to him for some info on how he has it set up.  He is using two rudders, a stern for the Bixby, and the standard non retractable.  I have been eyeing the Bixpy pretty hard. I have the finds set aside for it, but Getting the Ministry of Kayak Financing to approve of said transaction maybe a harder sell.  The Bixpy comes in at 9 pounds with battery, lighter than the Torqueedo, it also comes in at half the cost of it as well.  Damn Germans are proud of their stuff.

I don't think you need to mess around with the rudder. This guy mounted a bracket and small motor to the rod holders.
