Just bought my 1st kayak - will frequent Oyster Point and Half Moon Bay

hi everyone - i was referred to this board by the guy who i bought my 1st kayak (perception pescador pilot 12 pedal drive) from. i'm excited to learn about kayaking, i've done a bunch of charter boats and shore fishing, but it's nice to be able to head out for 3-4 hours on my own time and be in full control

looking forward to learning a lot

i live near oyster point so i plan to launch out of there a lot (especially to learn the basics) and i plan to frequent half moon bay for dungy & lings

You'll have to let me know how far you need to paddle to get to the good spots in HMB. Do you have to compete with much boat traffic around Oyster Point?

I usually go out of Santa Cruz, but would be interested in making a day trip up there to try that area out some time!

I plan on hitting oyster point up a lot more this year trying for halis.

I usually fish on a Monday but during the spring / summer there's more daylight in the morning to try and catch some fish before work.

Welcome and hope to see you at Oyster Point as I have yet to fish out there. Good place to learn the ropes. Im in SF so definitely have to check it out

Welcome, I am pretty new myself but this community at NorCal Kayak is awesome and helpful when you have questions.  It's a blast.  I live inland in the foothills but launched in the ocean for the first time at Crabfest 2020 Doran Beach. Great experience.  Watch a lot of YouTube videos on launch and land and even have someone take you out specifically for that. Make sure everything you don't want to loose is tethered to your boat and even has floating devices fastened. I plan on trips this year down to your neck of the woods. I'll post to you when that happens.  Have fun.  Stay safe.

now after losing stuff myself to the ocean, I've employed pool noodles on everything that doesn't float ( and some things that already float ).  Tethers to my rods ( with pool noodles ). 

you making something out of PVC for your kayak? that shit don't float btw . Pool Noodle!
