Launched @ the crack of dawn, 10 a.m. sharp!  Ocean pretty calm, winds from the south @ 1-4K, thick fog in & out.  Figured if the fogs rolling in & some point it'll roll out, with that I headed out into the abyss.

Used a white Scampi (TIPPED W/ SQUID-THANKS ANDY!!!) & 20 minutes in I hooked a lunker.  Was very heavy, I was sure I wasn't going to loose him so I let out the drag & took my sweet time.  I could tell by the weight he was a fatty & sure enough the fattest one I've had in a while.  Circled back around to try the same spot but couldn't double up.

Didn't have that hot of action overall, the fish count was low, maybe 5 fish total.  But hey, when you get a 22" Verm who cares.

Also passed a buddy on the way in & right after I went by he hit a 20" Verm, on a Dorado colored swimbait-no squid.

yep, went out of harvey, was pretty good, seems very doable in the fog there, maybe that's just cause i'm familiar with it.  also kelp beds are way thicker now, if you paddle straight out you can't miss the kelp beds.

Nice fatty red, PJ.  I've been finding that they enjoy a Megabait.  Keep the reports and pics coming.   :smt001

Regarding the closures, I called DFG & the gal that answered the phone said, "probably not before October" which sounded awesome to me!!!

Makes you appreciate getting to go out a little more, know it'll be gone one day.
