Released this short cabby - caught on a fish trap and kept 6 Black Rockfish - all were between 19 to 20 inchers  :smt007 Caught 'em all trooching a frozen chovy betweeen 20 to 30 FOW over structure. Angel, thanks for the tip regarding keeping the chovys on dry ice  :smt023 Never knew they sold them at Albertsons.

My score for da day:

(1) 26 inch ling (gave to my groovey Land Lord)
(1) 17 inch cabby (gave to a fellow yaker)
8  black rock fish (gave 2 to Ben and the rest to be smoked and shared with my co-workers :smt002)

Good enough conditions and Great Crew! Congrats to Ty for his big cabby and to Angel with his solid "mixed stringer" This was their first time out of "da Hollow"  :smt023

(the Vermilion was caught on Sunday - which was later given to Mom :smt058)

Hey Joel,

Nice fish, however...
Those don't look like the Salmon at Moss that you needed to catch instead of coming up to Bodega Bay for our little derby.  I'm a little hurt. :smt009

Sorry Brian  :smt009 I "WAS" suppose to meet Dave at Moss for a salmon hunt....but the reports were slow so Dave and I decided plan B = "Da Hollow"....which was a good call....seems like this place has never let any of us down :smt002 Chuck and I were planning to drive to Bodega and join you guys for the Saturday night party ....but that plan did not follow through. I promise to make the next AOTD...as long as you have the heart to forgive me and still be my friend  :smt058

With all that fish I harvested I figured I'd better eat some of it.  So last night Liz and I went into the recipe section and found the one where the fish is cooked in stewed tomatoes.  I think it's named "Provencale"...whatever it's name that stuff was good.

I don't think I followed the recipe exactly, I only used green olives and I fried the fish for a bit after dusting it in flower, but the concept was all the same.  Good stuff!!  The only thing I think I'll change next time is to go a bit lighter on the olives, they're good but they can easily overpower the other flavors.

I rented a cabin up at Pinecrest at the end of the month for my whole family (big cabin) I think I'll go out next weekend to try to catch a bit more fish for one of our dinners while we're there.

Sorry for jumping in a little late here but, it was great fishing with the
"Usual Suspects" again. What can I say that hasn't been said... easy launch, easier landing, good fishing, great company... The only disappointment of the day for me was losing the biggest cab I've ever seen... Oh well... if anybody catches a monster cab with a mega bait in it's lower lip... I've got dibbs on the jig... I finished the day with a respectable 33" ling and some huge grass rockfish that went about 19-20". I also got into the big blacks as well... my biggest went 20" or there abouts. No halibut... yet...

Kind of feels like we should get a certificate the first time we fish the bean.   :smt044

I'll consider myself a bean rookie until I've launched through some of the rougher stuff that I hear it's capable of dishing out.  Saturdays launch was way too easy to not consider myself a bean rookie.
