Me, Shimmy and Jelly were so disgusted to be WAF'd out of AOTD that we had to do something so we dawn patroled a new spot we've been scouting.  We got blown out early, but it didn't stop Shimmy from tearing it up.

I saw his rod get SLAMMED, and when his Trevala looked like a horse shoe it was time to get the camera out and turn on the video...

It taped out and 40 inches and change...SOLID ling!!!

All I got was 35"er and a nice assortment of reds.   :smt003 We released a lot more.

A short day, but a good day!!!

Damn... you guys tore it up for a short day.  That 40 incher is outstanding.  I don't see too many of those.  Right on Mark and Sean!

Jelly had a frustrating day...every hookup was a canary, no matter where we went.

It was the same for me that day we were all at Mill Creek.  After awhile, I just threw in the towel instead of staying out and molesting more illegals.

Jelly finished with a legal ling and a nice red. He was using a 3.5 oz mega...not sure why he was the canary guy.

Shimmy caught his on a "Shimbait"...his patented new homemade jigs.  The boy has SKILL!

Thanks guy's I've been wanting to nail a lingzilla for a while. They have been caught all around me but I got no love. Just a couple near misses on hitch hikers.
Today I was also catching Canarys, so I moved. Then I became the Gopher King :smt013 We just kept moving and graphing the bottom for good structure. We found a larger spot of fish, but the drift was starting to get away from us. I dropped while still coasting to get more hang time, then my jig just stopped. Crap a snag, then there was a head shake :smt003. I thought it was a nice Vermilion, then it started ripping line off my reel. I was surprised that it made 3 runs before I got him coming up. When I saw that big fat head I was excited. The other fish I caught would easily fit totally inside his gaping maw.
For jmairey, here is a picture of the jig, it's painted to look like a small Copper RF.
