Headed out around 8:45 to the best possible conditions you can ever find on a lake, I mean ocean.  Flat calm absolutely no breakes at all and minimal breeze.  I had a buddy with me who wanted to tour the area but couldn't fish because he is actually allergic.  He usually dives for abs up north though.

Anyway, fishing was very slow as I was fishing in very low tidal conditions.  We went out to the main point of pedro and I began to pick up some blacks and 1 blue.  Saw some birds working in about 80ft of water so I headed out with a WM apex and trolled through some enormous bait balls. The water clarity was so good that I could look down and see each individual chovie.  Thousands of them.  Unfortunately they were chillin, practically sun tanning out there.  Which means nothing was bothering them which means NO SALMON.

As we headed in I was thinking I had lost my touch and was going to get ling skunked for the 5th time this year.  I headed to a boiler rock that even on good conditions is too rough to get close to. I parked on it in about 5 feet of water and as soon as I saw 27ft I dropped down my 80's swim bait slowly reeled it up and whammm. 29.5 inch LING. gaffed it and headed in.  Not as big as the Bean hollow crew but it broke the Skunk.  Thank god.

The ling was not small, but it didn't quite matach up to the Bean crew.  I would have been happy to have released an underling at that point!
