So I'm out of Moss in a wide range of depths and trying to get the best screen on the FF and I must have pushed the wrong buttons but thought it was going defective on me because it would show the temp and the voltage, and the bottom and fish, etc., but not the depth numerals.  Eric tried to help me, but we never figured it out.
Got it home and reread the manual. One of the menu items lets you eliminate the depth numerals from the screen!  I guess it's for when it's 20 feet deep no matter where you paddle on the lake.
(By the way, Eric, on mine, you get back to the default settings by pushing the  down arrow and menu down at the same time, and then hit the power button.  Thanks for giving it a try.)

Tom, I always operated mine in default mode, but have started using the Zoom feature
since you don't get many pixels for the bottom 20 feet in 80 feet if you don't use it.

at moss mine could not read deeper than about 200 feet but I have the cuda 242, which
is a weaker unit than the fish easy 245
(but boy it lasts forever on my 8ahr battery, I have not charged it all season and been out
about 7 times, still at 11.8 volts).

I also have the 245 on my other scupper pro and it definitely uses the juice up faster than
the cuda 242. haven't really used it enough to know if the stronger power and dual beam
makes a big difference in what it sees in water less than 100 feet deep tho.

What other features do you all use? I could see a shallow alarm when trolling the bottom,
but have never bothered to do that.
