  Little tip,   Forget the Buzzbombs,    Use something Thinner and Longer,,,

  A Gibs Minnow is good, But this Long Copper/Black Minnow Thing was Kool too,

  I think the finess of the thinner minnow made a difference and maybe how it cuts thru the water..

Try a Braid Slammer 3 1/2 to 4 oz (Color does not seem to matter).  One side is round and the other is flat.  It does not go straight up and down.  But flutters.  Also, does well on the rockfish and cabbies.  Just tip it with squid.

I take back everything I may have said about your smaller AOTY fish!  Nice ling!   I'm impressed how fat (or stuffed with Cab) your fish was.  My 40" from Elk a couple years ago was the same weight.
