Phoenix Kayaks

Anybody here have any experience with Phoenix kayaks?? Went to their website and read their speil, sounds pretty good, their kayak material is somewhat lighter than rotomolded kayaks.

I paddled the 160 this spring.  Seemed slower than it should be.  Very hard to turn, a rudder is probably needed for the 160.  Small scupper holes, I think there was only 1 in the cockpit.  I wasn't that impressed.

I noticed that the three scupper holes all feed into one drain out the bottom, kinda different.

Hi - new to the boards here. I just purchased the phoenix 140. It is a first gen (has 2 scuppers whereas the new gen has the venturi system) I think the boat is fantastic. It is fast and only feels a little tippy when trying a deep water entry / exit. I am 5'9" 170 lbs and it was very dry paddling. I have only taken it on a fresh water lake so my usage is a bit small so far. I read a great deal and found out a lot about the phoenix (a lot more popular in the south and east coast - Hurricane only has 2 or 3 dealers in Cal.) It came with their angler package which included a front cockpit Scotty and 2 behind the seat flush mounts.  The rear 5" hatch is kind of useless, but I ordered a new hatch with a bag attachment from Beckson who is the supplier of the oem phoenix hatch.

I purchased the yak from Adventure Sports in Sacramento.
