I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to gear, and I'm thinking of getting a new casting rod but I don't want to spend over $100.  I know there are strong opinions and want to know what your thoughts are on this.  (My current casting rod is a bass pro  graphite RT1)

Ugly Stik® announces the new Ugly Stik Carbon rod, the lightest Ugly Stik ever. The rods feature a new carbon technology crafted of 100 percent 24-ton graphite

I’m a shimano guy, but honestly some of daiwa entry level fishing rods are pretty nice also. But honestly fish don’t care what rod you use to fish with... all they care about is bait and presentation. Some of the 13fishing entry level rods are nice too.  I guess if your trolling for trout you might need a heavier setup or a more forgiving longer rod. Ask the guys at outdoor pro in Cotati Those guys are good .

Take a look at the Abu Garcia vendetta rods. Same price but using 30 ton graphite instead of 24 which “should” make for a more sensitive rod but it is not the only quality to look at.

I have a bunch of them and use them for catching all sorts of different fish.
