Pretty much devoted my diving life for the past 6+ months to staring at sand and chasing Halibut...

2-3 times a week, in 4 different counties, from shore and kayak and boat, from the beginning of April through the beginning of October.

The vid below shows some of my favorite footage that I was able to capture this season:

All fish were consumed fresh by my family and friends.

2019 stats:

-36 fish
-2 in April, 8 in May, 7 in June, 10 in July, 5 in August, 4 in September
-Biggest 34 inches
-8 over 28 inches
-6 limits, 2 doubles
-932.75 inches total
-25.9 inch average
-17 Right sided, 19 Left sided
-Best streak: 3 limits in a row over 5 days (July 3rd, 6th, 7th)
-Worst streak: 5 skunks in a row

Was a pretty fun and productive season, but looking forward to hunting different species in different kinds of habitat now.

Same as with any fish with a size limit...don’t pull the trigger if not sure if legal...

Can be tricky if only see head of a Ling/cab in a hole, or outline of jaw of butt in sand but that’s your job as a spearo to decide whether to shoot or not.

What you never want to do is bring in an undersized fish cuz you messed up and shot it....against all regs and rules and makes all spearos look bad..like the regs say, if you “catch” an undersized fish you must release it immediately.

Jim
